Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workday Data Engineer to design and implement robust data pipelines integrating Workday HR data into a Snowflake-based analytics platform. The role involves building scalable ELT/ETL pipelines following Medallion Architecture principles, developing business logic for HR analytics use cases, and enabling Power BI reporting through curated Gold Layer datasets. The ideal candidate will work closely with Power BI developers and business analysts to deliver reporting-ready data models while ensuring data governance, quality, and compliance with HR data confidentiality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Workday data extraction pipelines
• Integrate Workday APIs and extract HR and organizational data
• Manage incremental and full data loads from Workday
• Ensure secure and compliant handling of HR data
• Build scalable and automated ELT/ETL pipelines into Snowflake
• Implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
• Design and optimize Snowflake schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures
• Develop transformation logic for HR analytics use cases
• Implement snapshot-based historical tracking for workforce metrics
• Create curated Gold Layer datasets for Power BI consumption
• Develop dimensional models including Employee dimensions, Organizational hierarchy, and Workforce snapshots
• Implement business logic in Snowflake for Headcount, Attrition, Hiring trends, and Retirement eligibility
• Handle Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD)
• Partner with Power BI developers and business analysts to deliver reporting-ready curated datasets
• Build optimized semantic models for reporting
• Create snapshot tables where historical reporting is required
• Ensure models minimize complex DAX requirements
• Implement data validation and reconciliation frameworks
• Maintain HR data confidentiality and governance controls
