Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Shopify Architect who is passionate about building scalable eCommerce solutions and leading engineering teams from a technical perspective. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a traditional Project Manager position.

The ideal candidate will contribute directly to development while defining the technical architecture, guiding implementation decisions, coordinating developers, identifying technical risks, and helping prioritize engineering work. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Shopify solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and define the overall technical architecture for Shopify applications.
• Actively contribute to hands-on Shopify development and code reviews.
• Lead and mentor developers by providing technical guidance and best practices.
• Challenge, review, and improve implementation approaches to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Coordinate engineering efforts across the development team.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize technical tasks and feature delivery.
• Ensure high standards for code quality, performance, security, and scalability.
• Drive technical decision-making throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in Shopify.
• Hands-on experience with Shopify Plus, Liquid, Shopify APIs, GraphQL, and custom app development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and modern frontend development.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs, payment gateways, and ERP/CRM systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable application design.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead engineering initiatives without direct project management responsibilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Headless Commerce (Hydrogen/Oxygen or similar).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
