Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer / Software Architect with 8+ years of software engineering experience and strong expertise in software architecture, web automation, browser automation, API integration, data acquisition, distributed systems, and enterprise application development.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, architecting, and overseeing scalable platforms used for automated data acquisition, retrieval, processing, and public-record retrieval services. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Python, Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, APIs, SQL Server, C, ASP.NET, and exposure to Ruby and ColdFusion.

This role requires a technically strong individual who can provide architectural leadership, conduct technical design reviews, mentor development teams, modernize legacy applications, and drive the adoption of cloud, DevOps, AI-assisted automation, and modern engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Architecture & Design
  • Design, develop, and oversee the architecture of automated data acquisition, retrieval, and processing platforms.
  • Develop scalable and resilient solutions involving web automation, browser automation, API integrations, and distributed processing.
  • Define architectural standards, design patterns, coding practices, and engineering guidelines.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and code-level reviews.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, observable, and high-performing.
• Web & Browser Automation
  • Design and oversee automation frameworks for acquiring data from dynamic web applications and public-record sources.
  • Work with technologies such as Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, WebDriver, and related automation frameworks.
  • Develop strategies to handle changes in websites, authentication mechanisms, browser behavior, rate limits, failures, and unreliable data sources.
  • Build resilient retrieval mechanisms with appropriate retry, timeout, queuing, monitoring, and error-handling strategies.
• Application & API Development
  • Provide technical leadership across applications developed using:

  • Design and integrate REST APIs and other enterprise integration solutions.
  • Evaluate existing applications and recommend modernization opportunities.

• Data Processing & SQL Server
  • Design high-volume data processing and data integration architectures.
  • Develop and optimize SQL Server databases, queries, stored procedures, and T-SQL solutions.
  • Analyze database performance and implement optimization strategies.
  • Ensure data processing pipelines are reliable, scalable, and fault tolerant.
• Cloud, DevOps & Distributed Systems
  • Design and implement cloud-ready and distributed application architectures.
  • Drive adoption of modern cloud technologies, CI/CD, DevOps practices, containerization, and automation.
  • Establish appropriate deployment, monitoring, logging, alerting, and rollback strategies.
  • Improve application scalability, availability, performance, and operational reliability.
• AI, OCR & Intelligent Automation
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that improve automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Explore AI-assisted data extraction, OCR, intelligent document processing, and AI-based automation.
  • Identify opportunities where AI can improve extraction accuracy, processing efficiency, and operational workflows.
• Technical Leadership
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical mentorship to development teams.
  • Resolve complex technical issues through structured root-cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Establish engineering best practices around testing, version control, code reviews, security, documentation, and CI/CD.
  • Mentor developers and promote knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, technology leadership, and development teams.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Provide technical feasibility assessments, effort estimates, risks, and recommendations.
  • Prepare and maintain architecture documents, technical specifications, system diagrams, and design documentation.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Software Development regarding project progress, risks, architectural decisions, and recommendations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, automation efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate existing systems and emerging technologies for modernization opportunities.
  • Reduce operational risks through improved architecture, monitoring, testing, and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 8+ years of progressive software development experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in software architecture, enterprise application design, automation, data acquisition, retrieval, or large-scale processing platforms.
• Strong experience designing scalable web automation and browser automation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Python and automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, or WebDriver.
• Strong experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Experience with C, ASP.NET, Ruby, and/or ColdFusion in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing API integrations and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, mentoring, and code-level oversight.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and migrating toward modern frameworks/cloud architectures.
