Overview

We are hiring a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support custom applications, APIs, event-driven services, and AWS cloud solutions. This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring deep involvement in production development, code reviews, technical troubleshooting, mentoring, and delivery while establishing practical engineering standards across the custom application portfolio. The successful candidate will combine strong .NET engineering expertise with cloud, integration, data, event-driven architecture, and modern AI-assisted engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Custom Application Development & Technical Leadership
  • Act as the hands-on technical lead for custom software development initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications while contributing production code throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Lead complex implementations through direct coding, peer reviews, technical spikes, and production troubleshooting.
  • Establish engineering standards, coding conventions, reusable patterns, and practical development best practices.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for difficult implementation, performance, and production issues.
• .NET Platform Engineering
  • Design and build cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices, background services, and backend systems using C and modern .NET.
  • Apply clean architecture, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, resiliency, and secure coding practices.
  • Modernize legacy .NET applications through incremental, testable improvements.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, maintainability, and runtime behavior.
  • Pair with developers and conduct code reviews to improve implementation quality.
• AWS Cloud Development
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS managed services and approved patterns.
  • Build and support workloads using Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
  • Implement secure configuration, monitoring, alerting, scalability, and recovery capabilities.
  • Partner with cloud and security teams to improve reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and operational readiness.
• Event-Driven Architecture & Messaging
  • Build asynchronous, event-driven solutions using AWS EventBridge, SNS, SQS, and related messaging technologies.
  • Implement event contracts, routing, filtering, retry, dead-letter, idempotency, replay, and observability patterns.
  • Use queue-based and publish/subscribe architectures to decouple systems and improve resilience.
  • Troubleshoot delivery, duplication, sequencing, throughput, and downstream processing issues.
• Enterprise Integration, ODBC & Web Services
  • Design, build, and support REST APIs, SOAP web services, internal interfaces, and third-party integrations.
  • Develop secure and reliable ODBC-based connectivity to relational databases and enterprise data sources.
  • Integrate custom applications with Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite, learning, commerce, and other SaaS platforms.
  • Implement authentication, versioning, validation, rate limiting, error handling, logging, and lifecycle controls.
  • Create reusable service clients, data-access components, integration utilities, and technical documentation.
• Data Access & Backend Services
  • Build secure, efficient data-access layers for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and supported data platforms.
  • Write and optimize SQL, stored procedures, transactions, connection pooling, and synchronization logic.
  • Implement data validation, integrity, reconciliation, caching, and recovery controls.
  • Diagnose database connectivity, query performance, locking, timeout, and data-quality issues.
• DevOps, Testing & Production Operations
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, configuration management, and release controls using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Create unit, component, integration, API, regression, and performance tests.
  • Implement structured logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and support procedures.
  • Participate directly in deployments, incident response, root-cause analysis, and defect remediation.
  • Ensure production changes include validation, rollback, monitoring, and support considerations.
• AI, Automation & Engineering Productivity
  • Use approved AI coding assistants and automation tools for development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and analysis.
  • Apply human review, secure coding, testing, and validation controls to AI-assisted outputs.
  • Automate repetitive engineering and operational work where it improves quality and speed.
  • Apply agentic programming patterns where appropriate while maintaining security, observability, and human accountability.
• Mentoring & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Mentor developers through pairing, code review, demonstrations, design feedback, and hands-on problem solving.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture, Platform Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and application teams.
  • Contribute to refinement, estimation, sprint planning, technical roadmaps, and delivery risk management.
  • Communicate decisions, trade-offs, dependencies, and operational impacts clearly.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 5+ years building enterprise applications with C and .NET.
• 3+ years serving as a hands-on technical lead while remaining actively involved in coding, reviews, troubleshooting, and delivery.
• Deep knowledge of ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, asynchronous development, dependency injection, testing, and modern .NET practices.
• Hands-on AWS development experience across serverless, containers, APIs, storage, databases, monitoring, identity, and secrets.
• Experience implementing event-driven systems using EventBridge, SNS, SQS, queues, or comparable messaging technologies.
• Extensive experience developing and consuming REST APIs, SOAP web services, and enterprise application interfaces.
• Strong experience with ODBC connectivity, SQL, relational databases, and production data integrations.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, observable, highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment support, and production incident response.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers through hands-on collaboration.
• Experience using AI-assisted and agentic programming tools responsibly within the software development lifecycle.

Certifications

• AWS Developer, Solutions Architect, or comparable cloud certification is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
• Experience integrating Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite, Boomi, LMS, ERP, commerce, or payment platforms.
