Overview

We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable web applications and APIs. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, backend development, databases, API integration, testing, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and secure Ruby/Rails code.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL and optimize queries.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
• Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve production defects.
• Write unit, integration, and functional tests.
• Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, product managers, and other technical teams.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Work with Git and standard development/version-control practices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, estimation, and delivery activities.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and production releases.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Strong understanding of Rails MVC architecture.
• Experience developing REST APIs / web services.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL and SQL.
• Experience with Git/version control.
• Experience with RSpec, Minitest, or other testing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Experience with debugging and production issue resolution.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frontend integration.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• AWS or other cloud experience.
• Docker/containerization.
• CI/CD pipelines.
• Redis, Sidekiq, background jobs.
• Microservices architecture.
• React/Angular/Vue experience.
• Elasticsearch or similar search technologies.
• Experience with performance optimization and application scaling.
