Azure Data Platform / PostgreSQL DBA Engineer

Overview

Remote

Night Shift (5:30 PM to 2:30AM IST Night)

6-11 years

Project: Oracle → PostgreSQL migration on Azure (DMS + AKS)

Seniority: Senior (5+ years) — Azure data platform specialist

The work

Own the target platform and data migration: provision Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server (zone-redundant HA), run the big-bang migration via Azure DMS, wire AKS/Key Vault connectivity, and drive the production cutover runbook and rollback plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • 5+ years of database engineering with strong PostgreSQL administration
  • Hands-on Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server (HA, SKU/IOPS sizing, backups, maintenance windows)
  • Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) — has executed an offline/big-bang migration (Oracle source preferred), with row-count/LOB/sequence validation
  • Working Oracle knowledge (schema/type mapping)
  • AKS — ConfigMaps, Secrets, Kustomize, rolling redeploys
  • Azure networking — VNet integration, private endpoints, private DNS
  • Azure Key Vault + AKS (CSI Secret Store / synced secrets)

Preferred Skills

  • Flyway/Liquibase
  • IaC (Bicep/Terraform — greenfield here)
  • Cutover runbook & rollback authoring
