Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Performance Engineer to join our Quality Engineering organization and play a key role in advancing our performance engineering practice. This role goes beyond traditional performance testing. You will serve as a Performance Engineering Champion, driving a performance-first culture across development, quality, architecture, and operations teams. You will be responsible for performance validation, scalability assessments, CI/CD integration, observability, and continuous performance governance while collaborating closely with Engineering and DevOps teams. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in performance engineering with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling them to bridge the gap between Quality Engineering, Development, Architecture, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Performance Engineering & Quality
  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive performance, load, stress, endurance, volume, and scalability testing strategies.
  • Define and maintain performance testing frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Analyze application, database, infrastructure, and API performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide actionable optimization recommendations.
  • Establish baselines, benchmarks, SLAs, SLOs, and performance acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to validate non-functional requirements.
  • Drive shift-left performance testing practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Performance Engineering Champion
  • Act as the organization's Performance Engineering Champion across product teams.
  • Promote a performance-first mindset and engineering excellence culture.
  • Drive adoption of performance engineering best practices, standards, and governance.
  • Influence architectural decisions with data-driven performance recommendations.
  • Lead performance reviews and facilitate discussions with engineering stakeholders.
  • Define roadmaps for performance maturity and continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary bridge between Quality Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, Product Management, and Operations teams.
  • Communicate performance risks, findings, bottlenecks, and mitigation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure performance considerations are addressed during design and implementation phases.
  • Mentor team members and share performance engineering knowledge across the organization.
  • Participate in design reviews, capacity planning, and production readiness assessments.
• Observability & Monitoring
  • Define observability requirements and performance monitoring strategies.
  • Analyze telemetry data, logs, traces, and application metrics.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve system reliability and operational visibility.
  • Establish dashboards and reporting for proactive performance monitoring.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Performance Testing and Performance Engineering.
• Strong experience with modern performance testing tools such as:
  • K6
  • JMeter
  • LoadRunner
  • Gatling
  • NeoLoad (or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of:
  • Web applications
  • REST APIs
  • Microservices architecture
  • Distributed systems
  • Cloud-native applications
• Experience analyzing:
  • Application performance
  • Database performance
  • Infrastructure performance
  • API performance
• Strong SQL and database performance tuning knowledge.
• Experience with telemetry and monitoring tools.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to present technical findings to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in enterprise SaaS environments.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience implementing performance engineering practices in Agile/DevOps organizations.
• Experience building performance engineering strategies from the ground up.
• Knowledge of FinOps, cloud cost optimization, and capacity forecasting.
• ISTQB Performance Testing Certification or equivalent.
• Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications.
